ATTENTION: Strong Image Powerful Message
I am sure that many of us remember this shocking image when it first appeared in 2015 on the internet and how it became virtual with everyone sharing it in their
social media accounts. The little guy in the picture is know as Alan Kurdi, a Syrian 3 year old boy whose body was found on the shore near a coastal town in Turkey. I picked this image because of the significant message that it brings to humanity and because of the realness of it. I consider this picture as a "slap in the face of the humanity" in a sense that is failing to help the most vulnerable among us and this image shows it best.
Seeing it from a visual aspect, this picture is very minimalistic/ simplistic in terms of the elements it shows but it provokes lots of emotions. In terms of the modality, the message that this image transmits has to do with raising awareness about what is going on with the refuge crisis in the Middle East. The picture taken is real and the story shared behind it as well. The claim which this message makes about the world, is to turn their eyes and extend their arms to help with the humanitarian crisis that is taking place in underdeveloped countries that is resulting in the loss of many lives.
